Naomh Padraig Estate started life about 9 years ago as Drumshanbo’s second Council housing estate (after Dristernan), and was developed in several phases over the years until completion in 2008. It was constructed by Sammon Builders of Aughnasheelin. The land was formerly owned by the Fee family.
The Residents’ Association was set up so that residents could liaise with Leitrim Co. Council, Leitrim Development Co. (originally Leitrim Partnership Co.), the builders, and other parties, including the Leitrim Residents’ Associations Network, to resolve issues and participate in the management of the estate. The work was done over the years by several generations of residents’ committees. We owe a debt of gratitude for all the trojan work done by past committees, and the trials and tribulations they went through, to make the estate what it is today.
Further details about the history of the estate and a list of past committee members will be posted here at a later date. Any useful information or personal recollections about the early days of Naomh Padraig would be gratefully received. Please contact us if you can help.
